    Description

This is a very nice complete set of Southern Pacific Lines advertising railroad vintage playing cards dated 1948. They come in the original 2-piece heavy cardboard box with the Southern Pacific Lines logo. There are no missing cards. There is one Joker card and an advertising card for the Salad Bowl (a complimentary salad buffet onboard) that reads "
may be used as an extra Joker
." Also comes with the International Contract Bridge Score & Bridge Table Of Points card.
The cards have a nice graphic of the Southern Pacific Lines "
    Daylight
" steam train. Each card has a different scene along its route. For a few examples they are Tehachapi Loop; Williamette River in Junction City, OR; Wizard Island in Crater Lake, OR; Oakland, CA; San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge; Redwood Forest in Mariposa Grove, CA; Lake Tahoe, CA; Sierra Nevada Mountains; Chinatown San Francisco; Fisherman's Wharf San Francisco; El Paso, TX; and many more.
Though the Bridge Score card shows a date of October 1, 1948, the images on the cards are from the late 1920s so I'm guessing they used the images for quite a while. All the cards are in very nice condition except the 10 of Diamond which has a small missing corner and the 9 of Spade which has a missing corner and a pretty serious rip going half way through the card.
