"GTX. That's short for 'Adios!'" - 1968 Plymouth GTX magazine ad
A period review in Car Life magazine told the GTX story: "So you want the most powerful, fastest automobile available in America? Then you need look no further than your nearest Plymouth dealer. Simply walk in, pick your price point, and name your Plymouth."
"What do you get for your money? Stated simply, a tremendous amount of straight-line performance. This is not to suggest that handling, braking, and other phases of vehicle performance are lacking... but simply that acceleration is the forte."
"The 440 Magnum... tuned the quarter-mile in 13.97 seconds."
Offered here is a '68 Plymouth GTX in red over black. The car has been tastefully refreshed and upgraded with pro-street performance equipment expertly instaleld. Showing 88,605 miles on its odometer, this GTX has traveled just 1,675 miles per-year since new.
The GTX's body is in superb condition across every panel, notably including the black-painted hood with its "440"-sticker large air intake. Hood pins add a measure of insurance and style. The condition of the red metallic paint is similarly exceptional, with beautiful gloss and uniform application across the entire body. There are no dings, dents, scrapes or other damage. The car's backout grille with its "GTX" identification and chrome trim surrounding the quad headlights is likewise free of flaws. The lower-bodyside trim, window surrounds, sideview mirrors, and rear taillight surround, all in chrome, show the same excellent condition (the only indication of age can be seen on the exterior door handles). Cabin glass and. lighting lenses are clear and uncracked. All badges and emblems are properly in place, including the "GTX" emblems on the rear quarter-panels. Chromed steel wheels are mounted with staggered-width performance tires. The look is very much "serious performance."
Inside, the red-and black theme continues. Black-leather-upholstered high-back, well-bolstered, racing-style bucket seats are trimmed with red piping; the "GTX" logo is embroidered in red on the headrests. The rear bench seat is similarly upholstered. Door trim is a combination of body-painted upper surfaces, with woodgrain inserts and black trim below. Chromed roll-up window handles, trim, and door-handle surrounds add flair. Black carpeting covers the cabin floors with red-and-black rubber mats for protection. The car's stock steering wheel frames a black dashboard (with woodgrain trim), free of cracks or other damage. Stock instrumentation is augmented with an AutoMeter® tachometer (with programmable RPM warning lights), added engine-monitoring gauges, and toggle switches for engine components. A B&M® t-bar shifter for the 727 automatic transmission is floor-mounted.
Under the hood, the 440 Magnum powerplant is center stage in a perfectly detailed engine bay. A K&N® air filter tops the Holley® 650 carburetor. Engine features include aluminum heads and 12:1 Dome® pistons. Chrome "MOPAR" valve covers with vent-cap filters add to the show-worthy look. All wiring is neatly routed, as are braided-steel fuel lines. Body-color-painted under-hood surfaces are spotless. Viewed from below, the full-length dual exhaust system (with crossover) is properly routed. The 727 automatic transmission and rear differential with 8.75 Sure-Grip 355 gears are perfectly integrated. There is no indication of chassis damage as might be the case from too-aggressive driving styles.
While the more than 150 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this 1968 Plymouth GTX in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.
This '68 GTX is bound to draw a crowd of MOPAR fans anywhere. Whether at cars-and- coffee events, serious performance shows, or just a trip to the drive-in, its next owner can expect plenty of compliments... and that's before they even turn the ignition key and start the car.

    About Garage Kept Motors
Garage Kept Motors, LLC specializes in classic and specialty online auto sales.
For our consignors, we are the only auto brokers that offer a Transparent Sale Disclosure. This means, when a car sells, we provide an exact copy of the Bill of Sale. We do this so our clients know exactly who bought their car, where it went, and most importantly how much we sold it for. No funny business.
For our buyers, our vehicles are listed on the Internet, with over 100 photos, including undercarriage pictures, and walk-around videos of the vehicles running plus a narrative-style write-up of the cars history and features. Our international exposure allows us to sell cars across the globe, and we sell a majority of them out of state and overseas. We deliver honesty and consistency in our photos and descriptions, a “no surprise” approach, so buyers, both near and far, can invest with confidence sight unseen. We are not a gallery. Vehicles can be seen locally by appointment as potential buyers are given our undivided attention.
