Description
Honzon of Amida Buddha is framed in decorative golden paper with gold lining of halo and designs. Written on the Honzon is the Nembutsu "Namu Amida Butsu" originally inscribed by the sage Honen Shonin who founded the Pureland Jodo Shu sect in Japan.Amida Butsu(Amitabha Buddha) is the principal Buddha in Pure Land school of Buddhism. His name means Immeasurable Life and Light. His Pure Abode is to the west of our world in the Buddhist cosmology in which it is a paradise of bliss with all the conditions for one to achieve Nirvana. Due to his 48 great vows, he manifested a world in which sentient beings, through faith and devotion can be reborn there by calling upon his name.
